First of all, what is a niche?
A niche is a small segment of a market. Lets take ‘Weight Loss’
Weight Loss is the market because there are so many ways to lose weight, it becomes to large to market to everyone and everyone is trying to market to it.
‘Exercising to Lose Weight’ – this could be a niche because its one way to lose weight. You can more effectively communicate with these people because they will be looking for ways to lose weight while exercising.
With billions of people on the planet, if you pick a small segment to work with, this will allow you to reach everyone in your audience.
There are also many different ways to exercise to lose weight, so you could break this niche down even more, so you could have an even more targeted audience.
One example might be ‘How to lose weight while exercising on a bike’
You want more people in your audience listening to the same thing.
Here’s a quick example: Say you have 1000 people in your audience who all want to lose weight.
How many of them do you think will want to exercise to lose weight? Maybe not all 1000.
How many of those 1000 people would want to lose weight while exercising on a bike? Again maybe not all 1000.
Now lets say you have an audience of 1000 people who all wanted to lose weight while exercising on a bike.
How many exercise bikes do you think you could sell if this were you target market?
How many bike helmets could you sell?
Get the picture?
This is just one example. You can have a very successful business life by just choosing one small niche like this one.
You also don’t have to choose just one niche. What would happen if you chose 2 or 3 or maybe 5 other niches.
You could find 100’s of niches just within the weight loss area.
Your first choice may not be the one you are looking for. Try again something out there will be the niche for you.
The trick is to find something you like and that interests you. That will make everything more enjoyable.
The saying goes ‘Work at something you like and you will never have to work again.’
With billions of people out there the sky is the limit.
