5 Common Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

Affiliate marketing is one of the most rewarding and lucrative ways to make money online.

An affiliate marketer markets and promotes someone else’s product for a commission.

Affiliate marketing has unlimited money making potential.

Making money online is not simple.

It takes a lot of skill, knowledge and commitment to be successful.

If you are looking to get rich overnight this is not the way to go.

If you are looking to build a solid business affiliate marketing is a great option.

These are the most common mistakes that newbie affiliate marketers make.

#1 – Not Building A List

One of the first things you should be doing is building an email list.

Many marketers skip this step until later, including myself. I wish I had started earlier.

If you build an email list first, you will be able to make many commissions off of one customer.

With an email list, you can build a long lasting relationship with a targeted audience.

When you have a list you can market to them over and over for as long as they stay subscribed.

So please, start building a list from day one.

#2 – Promoting Products Based On Commission Only

You should care about the products you promote.

Never promote a product based on the amount of money you will get per sale.

Your goal is to be able to make money for a very long time into the future.

If you promote crappy products to make a quick commission you will be out of business before you know it.

You want to promote legit products you know your list and site visitors will appreciate.

If you promote products that are irrelevant or that don’t produce results.

You will end up with a lot of refund requests.

Many subscribers may find your messages not credible.

Promote products you understand and use yourself.

This will help build credibility.

#3 – Signing Up For Too Many Affiliate Programs

There are a thousand great products with affiliate programs.

That doesn’t mean you need to sign up for everyone.

Sign up for 3-5 programs, if you are starting out.

Get those products set up in your funnel first.

As your business grows, and you start to see success, you can add more.

If you sign up for a ton of affiliate programs you might overwhelm yourself and end up doing nothing.

#4 – Promoting Low Converting Products

If a product has an affiliate program, it doesn’t always mean you should promote it.

Conversion rates are very important when it comes to the products you promote.

If you promote low converting products you won’t make very much money.

#5 – Having Unrealistic Expectations

There are a lot of people who make millions a year from affiliate marketing alone.

Most people don’t understand the amount of time, and learning it took, to get to that level.

Many newbie affiliate marketers expect to become rich overnight with affiliate marketing.

It doesn’t work that way.

You have to put in the time and effort if you want to be successful.

Enjoy your success.
